Final piece of advice: If you get freaked out about all this, simplify. Don’t give up because you get spooked about the small details. Keep it simple, stupid.

Thanks, Jon. I already have a headache from no caffeine, but I figured if I was going to do this whole thing, I might as well give up caffeine rather than switching to tea.
Dave and I just returned from our first Costco experience. It was yet another lesson in CrossFit and functional fitness: carrying our reusable shopping bags all the way back to the car was very much like last week’s farmer’s carry.
Today’s cooking (for tonight and some lunches/dinners this week):
Herb roasted pork loin with pesto (sans parmesan)
Pecan crusted chicken
Cauliflower mash
Steamed broccoli with garlic and olive oil
Roasted asparagus
Let me know if you want the recipes (I haven’t tried all of them before, so we’ll see how they turn out…)
OK Jon. I take your challenge. In my attempt to make a nice paleo snack of roasted grape tomatoes – I added my usual pinch of good quality sea salt. Yeah….this is going to take some serious tuning on my part…..
Breakfast of scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and capers with a little bit of hot sauce. Used coconut oil to cook them and 1 bottle of Kombucha tea. Since I already did the strict paleo, I am adding milk back into my diet so I had 1 cup of milk (I only drink whole milk now)
BTW, Oreo cookie cheat wod: 1 package of oreo double stuffs, 1 quart of milk for time: 11:15 followed by beer, tequillia, and 151.
Wow. #1 on your call out list, huh?
Sigh.
1. Attaboy Vaughn. Make sure you check out that hot sauce. Some of them can be surprisingly un-Paleo. Obviously, the simpler the better.
2. I’ve already said I’m going alcohol free Erika, what more can I do to get you to take the plunge?
I don’t know what I did right or wrong as a mother, but I have all three of my kids on this list!
Challenge accepted. With the caveat that if I start to gain weight, I quit.
I am on day 8. I haven’t touched starch, sugar, dairy, beans, splenda…However, I do have a glass of wine with dinner, sorry. I am sleeping like a dead woman (like you promised) and I feel full all day long. HUGE improvement from my lean cuisine and smart-pop days, huh? Thanks for the challenge!
I’m very proud of you annie. The wine isn’t ideal, but it is acceptable. Particularly when you weigh 97 pounds like you. Now if we could just get you to stop jogging…..
and if we could just get you to stop smelling like a wet dog…
Whoa – my big hesitation with jumping on board was the wine thing, and you berated me for an hour this weekend when I told you I wasn’t sure if I could do it. But Annie (Annie, I am sure you are a delightful person, I’m just busting Jon’s chops here) gets an “it is acceptable”?! NO FAIR
Annie gets special rules. I like my brother in law, so I have to keep Annie happy for that reason alone.
I’m sitting at work staring at amazing cupcakes my boss just brought in. The smell is driving me insane. I’m eating unsalted raw almonds instead.
Also–I’ve decided that I’m not cutting out coffee. I’m limiting it to 1 cup a day though
Ellie-
I’m cranking my coffee consumption waaay down. I just bought some more Mate, the crazy hippy stuff I drank while I was down in Argentina.
I am now about 48 hours without caffeine, and have a headache for the second day in a row and am still cranky. But I know I’ll feel better in a day or two when this passes.
I was going to do a salad with chicken for dinner, but think I’m feeling more of a large omelet with spinach and bacon. Hmm…
[...] into Jon’s challenge as well. I’ve been slipping off the paleo bandwagon a lot lately with my birthday / labor [...]
