@Jon - Holy shit, you're alive.

@My Fellow Ponderous Intellectuals: Skip Quote #3. To be a ponderous intellectual, use quotes like "I was talking with Salman Rushdie the other day, and he recommended that aspiring authors should avoid name dropping."

I've taken three focus sessions so far and they've helped immensely. My focus session with Ryan Powell got me doing kipping pullups, double unders, and cycling my box jumps. I also got a major PR on my overhead squat in his class. Getting "back to basics" and learning the intricacies of the movement and how to fix yourself when you're just not getting there are what I get out of the focus sessions.

Jon's oly lifting class taught me the importance of breathing and helped break down each oly lift into a sequence of pulls. It helped me get the lifts into my procedural memory so when it comes time to step up to the bar, ideally, I'll "just do it."

I also took Jon's Pose running class. Twice. And invited friends. Many of whom converted to Pose running and who are in minimalist shoes now (or barefoot). (My boyfriend even started a blog paleorunners.blogspot.com and a Facebook Group - Barefoot and Minimalist Runners. Not necessarily directly attributable to Jon's class, but it was part of his minimalist/Pose running tutelage. Now he takes Crossfit Endurance at PCF with Tes.) These friends who converted are now running pain and injury free. They're running faster. They're healthier. Pose running is a good thing.

I'm ready for a Power Lifting class now...let's get it scheduled! :o)

Oh yeah - and after our recovery WOD, we were both walking normally, without pain. My skeptical friend was sold on the idea of recovery WODs to regain mobility.
